shorebirds

Shorebirds have always held a special

place in my heart and studio.  They allow

me to be creative and use unusual shapes and sizes

and colors to give each bird a special personality.  I use

the same methods and tools that many of the shorebird

carvers used in the late 1800’s.  Just as these old masters, i

make decoys out of any wood available locally.

All my shorebirds, like my duck decoys, are one-of-a kind designs.  many are hollow and have checks, dings, and flaked paint just like an old bird from the turn of the 19th century.  all have metal eyes and usually have unbreakable bills made from old rusty pitch-fork tines.   all birds come with metal display stands and come in 4 different sizes.
